“ I am too positive to be doubtful, too optimistic to be fearful, and too determined to be defeated.”
Nourish Your Mind
Having a healthy mind, is just as important or even more important than having a healthy body. The mind is where your transformation all begins. To start your journey on a more rewarding and healthy life, you first need to have the mindset that you can achieve it.
One of the areas that I have focused on over the last few years is my own personal development. Understanding the role the mind and brain plays has been a pivotal point in my learning. Here are a few things that I believe can help nourish your mind and help you live an even healthier, happier life!
So how can you help flourish your mind?
Transforming your mind, to transform your body can start as easily as thinking positively. It’s much easier to live a healthy and rewarding life, when you have a positive mindset. This of course, is not going to happen overnight. It will take practice. Your thoughts are powerful and they really do shape your life. Positivity is a mental attitude and has to be learned.

One of the ways to start adopting a more positive mindset is to read more about the subject. If you are not sure where to start, here are some books that can start to change your mind and your life:
The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz
Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
The Power of Positive Thinking by Norman Vincent Peale
The Magic by Rhonda Byrnes (also wrote The Secret)
Along the same lines, positive thoughts come from taking deliberate actions.
I know that sounds weird but yes smile more! Smiling is contagious and when you smile you encourage others around you to smile. Smiling can help put you in a better mood. Researchers believe that smiling will actually help the immune system to function more effectively.
Be aware of negative thoughts and replace them immediately with positive ones. Use positive words and eliminate negative ones. That means living more intentionally and being more aware. Another thing to be aware of is criticisms of self and others.
Affirmations will help us attract the things we want the most in life. By saying affirmations that speaks to you the most, you can help manifest your desires and dreams.
Don’t give up on your goals, and remember to set those for yourself. Having something to look forward, to helps your mind create a focus.
Getting active and exercising can help you eliminate negativity. For one, it gets you out of your head and allows you to focus on your body instead. Exercising daily is an easy way to release endorphins (the body’s feel good chemicals) and increase your mental health. It helps get your blood flowing, which in turn, releases these endorphins or neurotransmitters (like serotonin), into the body. Researchers believe serotonin is a chemical that is responsible for maintaining mood balance.
Meditation is a great way to improve your mindset. Its helps clear your mind of negative thoughts and even reduce your stress levels.
Practice self love, and do things for yourself once in a while. Find time to take a warm bath, take a yoga class or take that painting class you always wanted to! Find a quiet place in your house that you can use as a retreat for alone time or peace and quiet time. I know that this can be hard, especially when you are parent. Taking time for yourself, doing things you love or discovering talents you never knew you had before, truly helps to nourish the mind.
The nutritional choices we make will affect our brain health. Eating a more healthy, balanced nutrient dense diet will help us establish a healthier mind. Focus on adding more complex carbohydrates and reducing excess sugars from our daily intake. Try adding pre and probiotics to help foster a healthy gut.
Share these tips for a healthy mind with your loved ones, and encourage your friends and family around you that a healthy mind is very achievable. Your emotional health can affect your physical health.
