Take care of your body, its only place you have to live.
I have learn over the years, that there are specific things that we all need to do to age healthier and fell younger. We all know diet and exercise are key elements, however, that is just not enough in this day and age.
Here is my two sense on Healthy Aging:
Have a Positive Minset
If something is negative in your life, get rid of it. I have learned that when you surround yourself with negativity, it affects you on every level. I find that positive people tend to live a positive life. Everyday, I make a conscious effort to live my life in gratitude. Be thankful always. When you focus on the things you are grateful for, your fears and dissapointement dont seem that important anymore. To startt your day, try writing ten things you are thankful for. Keep a gratitude notebook and take a few minutes to focus on your gratitudes. Smile More! Be intentional. Happiness is a choice. So choose to be happy. Along with this. I love saying positive affirmations everyday.
I know its hard to say that, but the fact is, we have to find ways to manage our stress. Stress causes us to age quicker. Studies have found that for many people, it’s the main culprit for sleepless, depression and many health problems. So take time for yourself and unplug from your everyday stressors. Try incorporating mediation, yoga and exercise. These are all very effective ways to help relax, recharge and relieve our stressors.
Find A Healthy Balance In Your Nutrition
Life is too short not to enjoy it. However, moderation is key! Eating healthy foods and living a healthy lifestyle allows us the freedom to indulge sometimes. It’s called balance. Over indulging on junk foods and alcohol can attribute to an unhealthy aging process. I have found over the years that eating healtier foods take away the cravings for unhealthy choices.
- Avoid fatty foods
- Eat lots of fruits and vegetables
- Be aware of the amounts of sugar in your diet
- Cut back on sodas
- Eat a combination of complex carbohydrates, High protein and healthy fats and fiber
Staying active will keep you looking younger longer. It will actually help you have more energy and because exercising releases endorphins into your body, you will feel better and happier! There are so many great ways to stay active. Get outdoors and go for a walk or a run. Try biking or swimming or my favorite, hiking. If the outdoors is not your thing, how about aerobic exercises, yoga, pilates or indoor cycling? Also. try to incorporate strength training to build lean muscle and atoned body.
Drinking lots of water everyday, helps get rid of the toxins in your body and helps you feel younger, while you age healthier. A good way to know if you are getting enough water is to drink a minimum of half your body weight in ounces everyday.
Take Care Of Your Skin
One of the ways to age healthier is to “baby” your skin. Keep it well moisturized. Wear sunscreen at all times! Too much sun exposure can cause sun damage, wrinkles, and skin cancer. One of the things that I like to do to protect my skin is to actually wear less make-up. You face will thank you later.
Get A Good Night Sleep
Not getting enough sleep at night, can cause brain fog and leave you irritable. Get to bed earlier and give your body he rest that it needs.
Staying involved means staying engaged. Being engaged in the world around you allow you to meet new people, and keep life interesting. Find a new hobby and keep you mind engaged. Learn a new language, take a cooking class, or take up painting. Keeping your mind engaged helps to challenge the mind, promoting youthful aging. It’s so important to stay involved with friend and family for emotional support. Eliminate distractions and live a happier life. Happier people look and feel younger.
